Will a smart lock fit my apartment door?
Not every door is ready, so we check three things first: door thickness, the existing cut-out, and clearance for the inside unit. Most Marina apartment doors use standard euro-cylinder fittings, which helps. If your door does not qualify, we tell you before you spend anything.

Every digital lock has a physical key hidden in its design. It opens the door when the electronics give up. The rule is simple: never store the override key inside the flat it opens. With a trusted neighbour, at the office, with family — anywhere but in the drawer next to the door.

Questions, answered
Can you open my smart lock without damage if it fails?
Usually, yes. Every smart lock has a mechanical override — a physical key that opens it when the electronics fail. That is why we insist you keep the override key somewhere safe outside the flat. We open through the override, not by forcing the lock.
What happens if the battery dies while I am out?
Most digital locks have a backup — an external battery contact on the front where you hold a 9V battery to power it up, or a mechanical override key. If neither works, call us. And this is exactly why we set up the override key with you on install day.
Do smart locks work during a power cut?
Yes. Smart locks run on their own batteries, not your flat's mains power, so a power cut changes nothing. The lock keeps working — and keeps its memory of fingerprints and codes.
I rent my flat — will my landlord object to a smart lock?
Check your tenancy contract and ask building management first. Most landlords are fine with it as long as the original lock goes back at checkout — and we keep your old lock for exactly that. Short-term rental hosts usually get approval in writing.
Where does my fingerprint data go?
On the models we fit, your fingerprint stays on the lock itself — it is not sent to a server or an app somewhere. Your phone app holds the admin account, and you can delete users from the lock any time.
Can I keep using a normal key as well?
Almost always, yes. Most installs keep a mechanical key option — the override key. You get the convenience of the keypad and the backup of a real key. Best of both.
