Door Lock Change & Repair in Dubai Marina

New flat, lost keys, or a lock that has given up — we change and repair door locks across the Marina.

Every lock has a past you cannot see. The old tenant. Their cleaner. A flatmate who moved out two years ago. Any of them could still have a key to your front door — and in the Marina, where flats change hands constantly, that is not a small thing.

We change and repair door locks across Dubai Marina's towers — one of all our locksmith services. Rekeying, full replacement, jammed-lock rescue — we come to you, look at the door, and tell you straight what it needs. Call +971 52 642 6161 and we will sort it in one visit. We are the locksmith in JLT, the locksmith on Marina Walk, the locksmith in Marsa Dubai and the locksmith in Al Sufouh — the same van covers the whole cluster.

Should I rekey my lock or replace it?

Rekeying keeps your existing lock and changes the pins inside, so old keys stop working and new ones take over. Full replacement fits a brand-new lock. Rekey when the lock itself is fine and you just need new keys. Replace when the lock is worn, damaged, or you want something stronger.

Rekeying is the quiet bargain of the locksmith world. The lock stays in your door — we re-pin the cylinder in minutes, hand you fresh keys, and every old key becomes useless. Perfect for new tenants and lost keys. Locked out right now rather than planning ahead? That is emergency lockout help in the Marina.

Replacement is the answer when the hardware is the problem. Salt air off the Gulf wears Marina locks faster than inland ones. If the bolt grinds, the handle wobbles, or the key needs a wiggle and a prayer, a new lock beats nursing the old one. The full trade-off is covered in rekeying vs replacing locks.

Just moved into a Marina apartment — what about the locks?

Change the locks on move-in day. You do not know who holds copies — the old tenant, their cleaner, a previous flatmate. A cylinder swap or rekey takes one visit, and every key you never met stops working. It is the simplest security upgrade a new tenant can make.

Marina flats turn over fast, and keys multiply with every tenancy. Landlords re-let; they do not always re-key. When you call us for a changeover, tell us it is a new tenancy — we will bring matching cylinders in case you want the flat door and storeroom on one key.

get a spare key cut while we are there — two per person in the flat, plus one with someone you trust. Future-you will be grateful.

My lock is jammed or stiff — repair or replace?

A lock that needs a wiggle is telling you it is wearing out. We can often service it — clean it, realign it, swap the cylinder. But if the bolt grinds, the key turns with play in it, or the lock has been forced, replacement is safer than a repair that fails at midnight.

Repair signals: the key is stiff but the lock is solid, the latch misses the strike plate, the handle is loose. These are usually fixable in one visit.

Replace signals: visible rust or corrosion, a cylinder that spins, a lock that has been drilled or forced, or any lock old enough that parts no longer exist. We will tell you which one you are looking at — honestly, on site.

  • Repair it: stiff key, loose handle, misaligned latch, lock body solid
  • Replace it: rust, spinning cylinder, forced or drilled lock, keys need jiggling

I am renting — can I change my locks?

Check your tenancy contract and ask building management before changing anything. Most Marina towers want their master access to keep working, and your landlord will usually want the original locks back at checkout. We keep every removed lock for you, so refitting later is easy. Our guide to landlord approval for changing locks walks through the contract wording to check.

We are locksmiths, not lawyers — your contract is the boss here. A quick message to your landlord or the building's management office before we visit saves arguments later.

The routine that works for Marina renters: get written approval, have us change the locks, keep the originals bagged and labelled, and refit them when you move out. We do the refit too. Prefer to skip keys entirely? Our smart lock installation in Dubai Marina page explains the keypad option.

What happens when you call

  1. You call

Tell us what is wrong — lost keys, new flat, stiff lock. We quote your arrival time on the call.

  2. We inspect

We look at the door and the lock, then tell you honestly whether it needs rekeying, repair, or replacement.

  3. You decide

You pick the option. We agree the price before any work starts.

  4. We fit and test

Fitted, tested with you watching, and new keys handed over. Old locks bagged and labelled for you.

What affects the price

We quote every job before starting work, so you know the cost before we touch a lock. These are the things that move the price up or down:

  • The lock type — a euro cylinder swap is simpler than a full mortise lock replacement
  • Rekeying versus fitting a brand-new lock
  • The grade of the replacement lock you choose
  • How many doors need work in the same visit
  • The time of the call — late-night call-outs are priced differently from daytime ones

Mobile service: we come to you anywhere in Dubai Marina and nearby areas — +971 52 642 6161. There is no walk-in shop.

Questions, answered

Do I need my landlord's permission to change my locks?

Check your tenancy contract first, and ask building management. Many Marina towers insist their master access keeps working, and most landlords expect the original locks back at checkout. We keep every lock we remove, bagged and labelled, so refitting is easy.

Can you keep the old lock so I can refit it when I move out?

Yes — we bag and label every lock and part we take out, so you can put the originals back when you move. Renters ask for this all the time in the Marina, and we are set up for it.

What is a euro cylinder, and does my door have one?

A euro cylinder is the barrel the key slides into — the part most Marina apartment doors use. If your key goes into a small round barrel on the door edge, that is one. They are quick to change and come in different security grades.

How many spare keys should I get?

Two per person in the flat, minimum — plus one with someone you trust outside the flat. Tenants lock themselves out more than owners, and a spare with a neighbour beats an emergency call-out every time.

Can you make one key work for all my doors?

Often, yes. If your flat door and your storeroom use the same type of cylinder, we can set them to work with one key. Tell us on the call and we will bring matching cylinders.

My key snapped in the lock — is the lock ruined?

Usually not. We extract the broken piece with specialist tools, and the lock normally survives. If the lock was already worn, we will say so — and replacing it there and then is often the sensible move.
